Women and Children Succeeding (WACS)

AIM's most innovative and successful program, Women and Children Succeeding (WACS), gives parents and disadvantaged children the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and become independent, self-sufficient, and successful. WACS removes the barriers that prevent families from taking advantage of available resources and allows the parent to return to school. Read more:   Women and Children Succeeding (WACS)

Clean Start

Since its inception in 2006, Clean Start of Anderson has strived to offer those on the street a way to clean up and start again. By providing laundering services, clothing, and basic hygiene supplies to the homeless of Anderson, this organization pushes its clients to use these services, largely in hopes of finding a job.

Serving an average of 20 clients each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Clean Start does six loads of laundry, allows all clients to shower in one of its three facilities, and obtain gently used or new clothing. In addition, we also offer barbering services and provide a telephone and mailing services.

This organization has offered a huge outreach service to Anderson’s community so far, but continuing is highly dependent upon your support.

Hours of Operation:
Monday 8:00-11:00 AM
Wednesday 8:00-11:00 AM
Friday 8:00-11:00 AM

Magi Tree Program

Mission Statement
Operation MAGI 2013 is the Christmas ministry that the Pendleton United Methodist Men has sponsored since 2003. In 2003 Rev. Loyd White, with the help of UMM, coordinated providing gifts for only Pendleton Elementary.

Operation MAGI was a great success last year. Mt Zion, together with fifteen (15) other churches, put the twinkle in the eyes of 287 children from 102 families. Again this year, the schools of the district will provide us with the names of families that need assistance this Christmas with gifts for their children.

Eeach child will receive three gifts. Three (3) colored stars will be placed on the MAGI Tree for each child with their shirt size, pants size, and two toys listed for us to select one. Each family will also receive the ingredients for a Christmas meal. Appropriate children’s Christian literature will be provided for each family. Each of us will be given the opportunity to select stars from the MAGI Tree on December 2nd and December 9th. There will be a large number of stars on the tree, so do not hesitate to take multiple stars. Gifts will be brought to the church on December 9 and 16 and will be distributed to the families on the evenings of December 19, 20, and 21.

Comments from many of the parents in the past have touched the hearts of those of us that have been fortunate enough to work with these families. There are many opportunities to become involved in this “labor of love” that will help each of us realize the true meaning of Christmas – giving and sharing with others. A list of opportunities will be in upcoming bulletins and you can select the areas in which you wish to participate.
