Rev. Allyson Helvie is our pastor and her leadership strength is through the building of relationships. She enjoys providing pastoral care for Mt. Zion and the surrounding community. She has an “open door policy” and looks forward to spending time with you. She relies upon her church leaders who volunteer their time and energy to serving God through serving Mt. Zion. She is surrounded by a wonderful group of Elders and people who care deeply about serving God.
Allyson has one son, Ryne, who will be heading to college next year. She enjoys sharing time with those she loves and developing new friends.
She graduated from Emmanuel Junior College in 1989, the University of Georgia School of Social Work in 1991, and Erskine Theological Seminary in 2007. She was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) on May 11, 2011. Allyson has served as a social worker and chaplain throughout her career in healthcare, hospice and end of life care.
She was called to be the minister at Mt. Zion in January, 2018 and loves being the pastor of a wonderful congregation and community.
